We had a big week in our homeschool, it was Norah’s 10th birthday which if you homeschool you know a birthday is a national holiday.

I had planned some light homeschooling for the day but we put those plans on hold and just did whatever she wanted. The flexibility of homeschooling is such a gift.
We resumed Tuesday with our lessons which included hands-on history and science activities through our Secret Explorers Mummy unit study.
We made hotdog mummies with puff pastry, a mummy science experiment complete with a scientific method worksheet and read lots of books and watched documentaries.

If you’re homeschool is anything like ours you’ve got science experiments on your kitchen counter curating. Check back on our Instagram next week to see how our hotdog mummy turned out and we’ll complete her scientific method worksheet. I’m curious to see her results myself.
We ended the week staying on track with our math lessons and completing our American Girls, Josefina unit. This week we’ll start the American Girl, Kirsten unit study from Fields of Daisies.
Norah also got back to horseback riding this week but is feeling sore today. If you followed along in Instagram, she had a riding accident 2 weeks ago and hasn’t been back to riding since her emergency room visit.
My youngest follows along with our activities and joins in where he wants. I keep it low pressure for him but I have found if I start an activity I’ve specifically put out for him, instead of asking him if he wants to do XYZ, than he is more likely to join in and want to explore.

Some activities he did this week included puzzles, wool ball counting, letter recognition using resin letters and alphabet coins and this week he worked in the letter “C” in his TotSchool booklet.

Follow along with our Instagram for daily updates and to interact with us. I’ll be back on the blog Friday for more Friday Favorites. Coming up this week on Friday Favorites is Notebooking Supplies and I’ll have more details on the blog.
Have a sweet week 💕🍭
Megan
