Financial Literacy

It’s so simple to teach your kids financial literacy and so hard at the same time because we need to be good financial stewards ourselves and it needs to be real world application.

This is not exclusively a homeschool topic, send this to a non-homeschool friend, this is definitely not taught in schools enough.

Here are some ways we teach financial literacy in our house:
1. Play money games like Money Bags, Exact Change, Pay Day, Bank Account; see Kids Money highlight on our Instagram for more
2. Set up a store at home and play pretend with a cash register, each kid has a set amount of money and they have to budget
3. Each kid has a savings account, make frequent trips to deposit money into savings and help them balance their account
4. Have a personal savings goal, maybe a new toy or book or a favorite treat. And a family savings goal, this is tracking as a family, kids don’t necessarily need to contribute to the savings but as a family we track.
